Social media influences buying habits

We recently read a great article on a particularly good online blog called Lies, damned lies and statistics about the influence social media can have on the buying habits of certain age groups of people.

A statistic from a Harris Poll in the US (via Marketing Charts) deduces that 50% of the under 35 year olds who use social media say they are influenced ‘a great deal’ or ‘a fair amount’ by reviews on social media. The great news though for companies already using online marketing strategies is that even among American consumers aged 55+, over a third (37%) say they pay attention to what people on Facebook or Twitter are saying.

It appears the digital marketing revolution has indeed, definitely begun for all age groups of online consumers.

You can see the full breakdown of the statistics here.

  • Recently saw your comment on my own blog and that’s how i came to know about your site. Each article I have read is very well written and to the point. I would also like to say, not only are the posts well written, but the design of your web-site is excellent. I was able to navigate from post to post and find what I was looking for with ease. Keep up the great work you are doing, and I will be back many times in the near future.

This couldn’t be said more pro. Having reading this post I was reminded of my old roommate! He constantly kept talking about this kind of stuff. I will forward this article to him. I’m very positive he will love it. Thank you once again for sharing this.

  • Hello from an avid reader. Well, there have been many posts that I have pondered over today however none of them compares to this. Well done! And I want you to know that my mates think me extremely critical so that is high praise indeed.
